Does Shopify support AI agent checkout?

Yes, broadly. In ARC's checks, most Shopify stores publish a UCP profile and Storefront MCP, and many return an agent checkout link. Support isn't automatic everywhere, though, so check your own store. ARC's adoption tracker shows live Shopify rates next to other platforms.

Short answer

Shopify documents UCP, Storefront MCP and checkout WebMCP for its stores. ARC's rates say how many checked Shopify stores actually expose them. The rates below are counted from ARC saved checks, accessed 2026-10-13. They are not copied from a summary.

What Shopify turns on

A UCP profile at /.well-known/ucp, a Storefront MCP server at /api/mcp, and checkout WebMCP tools in the checkout HTML. A cart result is counted on the UCP row. That counting rule is on the methodology page. Checkout WebMCP is HTML detection. The tools require buyer approval. ARC does not complete a purchase.

Why some Shopify stores still fail

A theme, an app, or a bot setting can stop a browser shopper even when the catalog returns a checkout link. ARC records the stop it saw. It does not treat that store as unscored, and it does not treat an unscored store as a failure.

ARC open dataset snapshot 2026-10-12. Index browser tests stop at add-to-cart. Nothing is bought.

Measured scored stores: 77MeasuredA published score whose dataset row is evidence=measured. Rates below use only these stores.

Inferred scores: 6InferredKept out of the rates. An inferred score is not treated as a failure or a success.

No published score: 6Not measuredRetest pending or not finished. A missing score is not a zero, and it is not a mark against the store.
