How do I make my store ready for AI shopping agents?

Start by checking your store for free on ARC. Then fix what agents trip on most: add-to-cart buttons and size or colour pickers that agents can't use, bot blocks that turn agents away, and missing or invalid UCP profiles. Retest after each change and track your store page over time.

Step 1: check your store

Paste the address at /agent-checkout. Read the checkout link, the block line, and the browser stop if the store is on the Index. Do this before changing anything, so you know which stop is yours.

Step 2: fix bot blocks

If the store page says ARC's check was blocked, the security settings are treating the check like a scraper. That is often accidental. A block is a label, not a zero. See which stores block AI agents.

Step 3: fix add-to-cart and variant pickers

ARC open dataset snapshot 2026-10-12. Index browser tests stop at add-to-cart. Nothing is bought.

Measured scored stores: 77MeasuredA published score whose dataset row is evidence=measured. Rates below use only these stores.

Inferred scores: 6InferredKept out of the rates. An inferred score is not treated as a failure or a success.

No published score: 6Not measuredRetest pending or not finished. A missing score is not a zero, and it is not a mark against the store.

5 of 5 shoppers added to cart: 32 of 77Measured

0 of 5 shoppers added to cart: 18 of 77Measured

0 of 5, but a checkout link still came back: 13 of 18MeasuredMeasured scores only, snapshot 2026-10-12. Inferred scores and stores with no published score are outside this count. The protocol check said yes. The browser test did not get the product into the cart.

Median score: 83Measured

Highest score in this snapshot: 86 of 100MeasuredIndex tests stop at add-to-cart, so a clean cart pass does not score 100. The formula is on the methodology page.

Published stop reason where at least one shopper missed add-to-cart (45 of 77 Measured stores):

Stop reasonStores
Couldn't add it to the cart32
Blocked at the size picker8
Stopped by a human-check3
Store blocks automated agents at the door2
Shoppers that added to cartMeasured stores
0 of 518
1 of 56
2 of 51
3 of 52
4 of 518
5 of 532

The Measured stops, most common first, are Couldn't add it to the cart (32), then Blocked at the size picker (8), then Stopped by a human-check (3), then Store blocks automated agents at the door (2). Make the control that the top stop names actually change the cart, including an in-stock size or colour when that is the stop. The order above is the dataset order.

Step 4: publish a valid protocol profile

If you publish UCP, check it in the validator. Valid is not the same as a checkout link. ACP adoption is not measured.

Step 5: clean product data

ARC reads price and stock from the page's structured data. Not tested is not a failure.

Step 6: retest and claim your store card

Run the check again and watch the history on the store page. Claiming the card is free at /store/{host}/claim. A claim does not change the measured result.
